Gender equality and the recognition of women's contribution to the arts are more urgent today than ever. The recital creates space to discuss issues, honor the legacy of remarkable female composers and reflect on the influence of their music on today's world.

Franziska Hiller (soprano and moderator) and Ilan Bendahan Bitten (piano) will perform works by Clara Schumann, Ethel Smyth and Alma Mahler, among others.

“Female worlds” is the thematic focus of the Leipzig Music Museums this year. In exhibitions, guided tours, concerts, talks and workshops, various facets of women's lives will be examined and the decisive role of women in the history of music will be made visible and audible.
