Songs by female composers, from the 19th to the 21st century.

In addition to works by better-known female composers such as Fanny Hensel-Mendelssohn and Clara Schumann, the programme will also feature less frequently performed songs by, among others, Maria Bach (Vienna), Amy Beach (New York) or Helen Buchholtz (Luxembourg). Some of these women were celebrated for their music during their lifetime, others composed more quietly, but what they all have in common is that their works fell into oblivion and are unfortunately still too rarely heard. The compositions by Catherine Kontz (London) and Albena Petrovic-Vratchanska (Luxembourg) both refer to songs by Helen Buchholtz and, through their forward-looking tonal language, build a bridge to the present day.
