"Kreisleriana"
Music by Robert Schumann and Johannes Brahms under the influence of E.T.A. Hoffmann's Fantasiestücke.
The programme combines music and literature. In the first part you will hear texts by E.T.A. Hoffmann in connection with Robert Schumann's "Kreisleriana", in the second part an excerpt from a Brahms letter and a text by Robert Schumann about Johannes Brahms, accompanied by early piano works by Brahms from the "Kreisler" period. Both parts are introduced by a sonnet by the composer Hans Pfitzner.
